I recently received my June 2009 statement from Chevron/GEMB. Upon reviewing my statement, I noticed a $29 late fee charge for a balance of 178.49 which was paid in full.

Chevron/GEMB claims my payment in full arrived one day late and will not remove the $29 late fee, but did offer a 10 cent reduction per gallon of gas for the next 30 days". They would not provide proof that the payment was actually late/. Needless to say, I closed the account and declined their 10 cent offer?. I then filed a formal complaint with the federal reserve as GE Money Bank is now a bank in order for them to receive federal bailout monies;.

In addition, I have contacted several Senators via certified mail regarding my situation and provided ample proof that GEMB was lieing to me in order for them to reap the $29 late fee:. More than 50% of a banks profit are from these illegal fees as banks like GEMB gouge consumers because they know the consumer will not fight back:. That is until they did it to me as I have a significant background in finance and know how to respond". Stay tuned as a tort will soon be filed seeking class status|.

In the meantime, we the consumers must fight back by canceling our credit cards with GEMB and send them a loud and clear message that the consumer will not tolerate this nonsense! 129308a

Some of the worst customer service I have encountered. I cancelled my card after twenty years before being activated with the National Guard. I did not want any extra hassles while I was gone. When I returned home I found that the card had not been cancelled and that they had charged me for the travel club and late fees. When I tried to call and talk to them about it, they would not talk to me because it had been sent to Encore collections. The only recourse was to pay the fee so that I could cancell the card again with Chevron. I will not be buying their gasoline any more either. I have seen enough of oil companies and their practices. Looking forward to a post on the class action suit. Thanks.
